Have you ever gone outside and seen an orange butterfly and thought, "Wow, that looks
so cool?" Well I have, and chances are you've seen a monarch butterfly too.
These bright creatures are actually incredibly poisonous, as they eat the toxic plant milkweed
when they are caterpillars, and their pretty orange appearance is actually to ward away any
birds or other animals that might want to make the butterfly its next meal. It's basically
a flying hazard sign, saying "Hey! You don't wanna try eating me buddy, I got a job to do."
Next up is more a cool looking butterfly than pretty, but it's the owl butterfly.
These darker colored butterflies have a secret weapon against anything that
wants to eat them. While
they may not be poisonous, these guys have huge spots
on the bottom of their wings that looks
like the eyes of owls. If something gets too
close, these butterflies unfurl their wings to
scare off anything that might want
to eat them, basically saying, "Hey man, you don't
wanna mess with an owl, do you? That's what I thought."
